Cobalt our baby Lorikeet

Our mother lorikeet Emerald passed away about 6-7 weeks ago.
She had come every where with us, even moving houses,
lorikeets can live up to 35 years but she only lived until she was eight.

Leaving us with this cute little fluff ball.
Who is just 5 days old in this picture on the day we found him alone in his nest.

Here he is enjoying a cuddle with his mum Louise
Also known as the artist River Girl.

He now looks like this, it is special to watch him grow.

Here he is investigating the camera and wanting more pats and cuddles he is the snuggliest bird we've ever had. When we put him back into his cage he runs to his blanket and snuggles underneath and when you put your hand into his cage he comes running over for a cuddle. He is adorable!

He is eating very well now and growing nice and big, he has all of his feathers almost, he is just a little bit downy under his wings.

He spends his days in his cage now, it is filled with toys and perches a hammock and he is just starting to feed himself with bowl of dry food and water just going in this week.

This book is a junior non fiction for younger readers.
It is published  by Gareth Stevens and written by Tim Harris, I thought the book was handy but not that great. It is about the many species of turtles and there habitats it has good pictures of all the species and little info sheets about each species as well.

Nahko and Medicine for the people

Yesterday mum and I went to see
We went with a few  friends and I got to have more than one cuddle with all of the band members !

That is me in a group hug with Hope Medford, Nahko Bear and my friends Asha  and Jai.

Medicine opened the show for Donovan Frankenreiter and Xaveir Rudd, and MftP were even better than they are on you tube.

One of my  favorite Medicine For The People songs

The concert was at Byron Bay youth center and it was a lovely out door venue with shade and cool breezes there was a really nice crowd everyone loved it.

Our friend Karina is hand raising a pretty faced wallaby so he came to the to the concert and everyone loved him.

Me and Chase Makai, meeting the band members of MftP was so much fun, I was dancing with Dustin Thomas who showed me a new move called the stomp, had a pillow fight with Nahko, had a chat with Chase and discovered he lived on the Clarence for a year and had as many cuddles as I could with Hope.
It was such an awesome day and I will remember meeting them always and I cant wait to see them again but in the mean time I will be listening to them on their CD and they have inspired me to learn guitar. One of my biggest dreams is to sing with them.

mullbery trees.

Mulberry trees scientifically known as Morus were very valuable  in early civilizations.
They were great fruit trees because of there delicious berry's and were good for feeding the animals like cows, sheep and silk worms they were also easy to grow from seed or cutting and were very hardy making them very useful.

The silk trade was important in the ancient civilizations in great demand for fabrics and rug's.  The caravans of camels that traveled the silk road from Turkey to China brought world civilizations in contact eachother, to trade valuable products back and forth and the more silk worms the more silk the more commerce and goods.

The black mulberry is native to S.W. Asia, and it was imported to Britan in the 17th century to help the silkworm the black mulberry is above, the red mulberry is native to Eastern N.America,The white mulberry is native to an east Asian species.

I really enjoy climbing the trees, and our trees are covered in lichen, and the fruits are delicious to eat.

Living in a tent

My brother and I have been living in a tent, it's a big tent it has three rooms.
We have had some good adventures in that tent, and we can set it up well now with two big tarps, one the roof  and one beneath the tent. We have had some wet and windy weather, and we have had to make some adjustments to make sure it stays safe and dry in the wind it blows around, and I can hear the tarp blowing and flapping and see the walls moving .

Waking up in  the tent I straight away know what the weathers doing and sometimes it's cold, and I want to stay in my bed and on the days it's warm, and I quickly run inside or else I get really hot.  My mum told me there was an owl perched above me, and he was a boobook, we also have lots of frogs once a little frog got into my brothers room it was really funny . the insects like the tent as well and we found a cocoon on the outside of the tent, and there was also a big huntsmen spider on one of the tarps last week. I like lying in bed and seeing things on the roof in silhouette.

We have been living in the tent while our new bedrooms are being built in the house.

Clarence in flood

Recently we got lots of rain and were flooded in and we couldn't get in to Copmanhurst to go to the little shop. The water was higher than we have ever seen it and it was awesome.

We  like a nice flood, our house never goes under but one of our neighbors homes that never goes under actually flooded up to the rafters this time.

Its amazing how high it is this time and our poodle liked it because all the dog owners walked past our house and that's nice and cute.

.We had water all around us it was nice because you can walk out of the door and see water everywhere. The water was covered  in spiders and insects, I had to save some Grasshoppers from the spiders because they were being eaten and we just couldn't have that so I saved them.
We set up  a rain gauge that I got for Christmas and it got 134 mills in less than 24 hours.

The river rose faster than ever before here and also at Lilydale.
 THE MIGHTY MIGHTY Clarence river
flooded over Lilydale bridge and Rogans bridge.

Grafton had areas that were being evacuated , areas behind the levee bank that are normally safe, but because the first flood was rising so fast and moving so quickly  the authorities wanted people to safe

We have actually had three floods now in five weeks the 2nd and 3rd were much smaller than the 1st but the 3rd was really just localized flooding water running off from the paddocks plus all the dams creeks and reservoirs were full because their was much water around.

Moving house with Pets

We have recently moved back up to the north coast and we
brought my fish, our birds and our poodle they just had to come with us.

To move the fish we put them in a in a special  foam box from the pet shop.
We put them into our van 'Sunny' and on the way here their box started to leak. I was very worried because they are my fish and the drive is very long and very bendy and very hilly,  but when we got home I was happy to see the fish were okay. One bad thing was the car carpet smells from the leak.

The birds were in there cages with a tarp on the floor, to stop the poo going on the carpet, they travel pretty well although it was a long drive  they got here safely and the mother and father are having free flight and they definitely are enjoying it and like us, are glad to be home.

Of course Indi was easy, he comes with us in the car a lot anyway.
